1. Simple Present  
berfungsi untuk menyakatan suatu fakta, kebiasaan atau kejadian yang terjadi pada saat ini.
a.      kalimat tanpa kata kerja (S + to be + C)

1. (+) She is a Doctor

    (-)  She is not a Doctor

    (?) Is she a Doctor ?

2. (+) They are a Students

    (-)  They are not a Students

    (?) Are they a Students ?

b.     Kalimat dengan kata kerja (S + V1 + s/es + C)

1. (+) I study hard everyday

    (-)  I do not study hard everyday

    (?) do I study hard everyday ?

2. (+) He studies english tonight

    (-)  He does not study english tonight

    (?) Does he study english tonight ?

c.  kalimat aktif dan pasif
    Aktif : My little brother always breaks my toys when he is angry.
                I always water this plant every day.
    Pasif : My toys are always broken by my little brother when he is angry.
               This plant is watered by me every day.


2. Present Continous
berfungsi untuk menjelaskan kegiatan yang "sedang" terjadi saat ini

struktur : S + to be + Ving + C
contoh :
(+) Rahma is being busy now
(-)  Rahma is not being busy now
(?)  Is rahma being busy now  ?

Kalimat aktif dan pasif
Aktif :  He is reading a novel now.
            The dog is biting Anne’s leg.
Pasif :  The novel is being read by him.
            Anne’s leg is being bitten by the dog.

3. Present Perfect
Yaitu merupakan bentuk waktu yang digunakan untuk menyatakan kejadian yang telah terjadi , namun kejadian itu masih ada hubungannya dengan waktu sekarang.
contoh :

a.      Kalimat tanpa kata kerja ( S + have/has + been + C )

1. (+) Yanti have been in madiun since 2002

    (-)  Yanti have not been in madiun since 2002

    (?)  Have you been in madiun since 2002 ?

2. (+) Komang has been working at yamaha since 1994

    (-) Komang has not been working at yamaha since 1994

    (?) Has Komang been working at yamaha since 1994 ?

b.     Kalimat dengan kata kerja  (S + have/has + V3 + C )

1. (+) I have talked to her

    (-) I have not talked to her

    (?) Have I talked to her ?

  

2. (+) They have walked to the cinema

     (-) They have not walked to the cinema

     (?) Have they walked to the cinema ?

c.  Kalimat aktif dan pasif

      Aktif :  My uncle has asked me to come to his house.
                  I have bought her a candy just now.
      Pasif :  I have been asked by my uncle to come to his house.
                  She has been bought a candy by me just now
